Sunwell computes solar position (sunrise, solar noon, peak UV, and golden hour) using NOAA solar math from your precise location, and pulls live UV conditions from Apple Weather. Burn timing uses the Fitzpatrick MED scale, derated for your SPF and coverage. It's grounded in real dermatology — but it's still a model, so always listen to your skin first.

Because it's an estimate, not a blood test. We model vitamin D synthesis using your skin type, exposed area, and the sun's elevation angle (zenith-weighted). It's a helpful directional guide for understanding your sessions — not medical measurement or advice. For anything health-critical, talk to your doctor.

The sun is local. Your location is used solely to deliver accurate UV, sunrise, and sunset for exactly where you are. It is never sold or shared. You can also save locations manually if you'd rather not share live location.

Only Time in Daylight — your logged outdoor session minutes. Sunwell writes this data and never reads your health information. You're always in control: grant or revoke access anytime in the Health app under Sharing → Apps.

Premium unlocks the full Sunwell experience — advanced insights, forecasts, and personalization. It's available as a monthly or annual subscription. You can start, manage, or cancel anytime, and a Restore Purchases option is built into the paywall if you switch devices.

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, tap Sunwell, and choose to change or cancel. Cancelling keeps Premium active until the end of your current billing period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID and renews automatically unless turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends.

First, open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. If it still doesn't unlock, make sure you have a network connection and try relaunching the app. Still stuck? Email us with your purchase date and we'll sort it out fast.

Yes. Sunwell includes an Apple Watch app, Home & Lock Screen widgets, and a Live Activity (with Dynamic Island) so you can watch your session and live UV without opening the app.

If you enable notifications, yes. Sunwell can send reapply reminders timed around your SPF, peak UV alerts, and optional golden hour nudges. You control each of these in Settings.

Your sessions and preferences sync privately through your own iCloud account, and your location is used only to fetch sun data for your area. We don't sell your data. Sunwell is built to be honest with the numbers and honest with your privacy.

Absolutely. You can add locations manually instead of live location, and Apple Health logging is entirely optional. Sunwell still gives you accurate UV, timers, and insights — these features simply make it more automatic.
